Most of these things will belong to someone. If you are someone who has asked for them, come on by and see if you like what we found. The little princess dress is Snowy’s, the miniature poodle who lives upstairs Stevie’s, who will be wearing it once we do a small adjustment on the waistline. In true fairytale style, Snowy will be wearing a Posh Dog London couture outfit to a doggy fashion show, with a price tag hovering around US$350. I never thought I would approve of doggy luxury in this light, but if the doggy is loved, love does what it does best. Living.

And a story, The Chicken, that has been on my mind ever since I read it three days ago,

As I was walking down Stanton Street early one Sunday morning, I saw a chicken a few yards ahead of me. I was walking faster than the chicken, so I gradually caught up. By the time we approached Eighteenth Avenue, I was close behind. The chicken, turned south on Eighteenth. At the fourth house along, it turned in at the walk, hopped up the front steps, and rapped sharply on the metal storm door with its beak. After a moment, the door opened and the chicken went in.

We have good things in store, everything old. Did you see how beautiful the horn is? We’ve positioned it as part of a rack. (Sadly today I saw a man in the store give it a ‘museum look’, looking at it, head cocked to one side, wonderingly.) A reaction is better than none.

I’ve put it this way to share with you some interior ideas, for those of you home/room proud, or for those of you not ready to strangle us poacher-alibis… Before you jump, remember: the exotic is only exotic if time has had its way with it. Death is everywhere; rarity is more ugly than beautiful without age. I couldn’t be bothered about keeping a fresh kill for time to do its work — death is not only everywhere, it is anytime. Why kill-and-keep, for later?

This is our understanding, our reasoning.
