This is an authentic fancy red tilt hat from the ’40s, the kind you wear to reveal half or so of the hat at the forehead.
This design has two bows at each side and is trimmed with sequins at its rim. The center top bears a sequined flower. The hat has an inner ‘wire’ which you can bend to fit your head shape. I find that a smaller head can attach the hat in place by using bobby pins. You should be able to ‘adjust’ the hat to a wider head.
Unmarked but still a genuine fancy hat with great collectible value. It is in excellent keep. There is no musty smell or signs of everyday wear, I suspect, because this has been with stores or collectors just like ourselves for a long time.
